Claymore at The National Celtic Festival, Port Arlington June 2007

Without a doubt, the best one ever!

This year’s festival was a blast and I think everyone who attended would agree. We all had a great time, the shows were great , the sound was great and the light show in the Celtic Club tent at the," Grand Hotel", was unbelievable ! We have had so many emails from people who enjoyed the shows you would not believe.

The one low point of the weekend was when William was arrested by the local police and let off in handcuffs !

Claymore in Jakarta, Indonesia June 2007

Well, after a long flight we finally arrived in Jakarta and straight into some controversy! With some frantic phone calls from band member partners to find out if we were all ok?

We then found out that just as we had arrived, there had been a riot at the Australian embassy and all Australians were advised to return home. We thought about it for a few minutes and then decided to carry on with our original plans and play for the good people of Jakarta. After all, music is the language of love.

We had a ball, all the people we met and played for, were fantastic .

This was by far the biggest most successful festival we have done!
The band and support crew were on fire and we played to close to 700,000 people over the course of the festival.
We met many old and new friends along the way and had the time of our lives.
Stay tuned for a more up to date report very soon.

What a festival!
It had been a couple of weeks since we played and we were like caged animals, let loose! The crowds were great and we made a lot of new friends and met quite a few regulars over the course of the weekend. A big thank you to all involved with the festival and we look forward to the next time we are in beautiful Port Arlington.

PORT FAIRY FOLK FESTIVAL- PORT FAIRY - March 10 - 13, 2006
Extract from The Bulletin Magazine 28-03-2006 Tony Wright reports.

"Somewhere around midnight in the Shebeen Bar, where schooners of Guinness and Kilkenny are disappearing down a thousand throats at alarming speed, a piper is doing things to a bagpipe that no highlander ever imagined, a drummer is beating a rhythm that would burst a heart if it ever tried to keep pace, and a party of Scottish dancers is whirling and leaping, feet seeming never to quite touch the ground.

“Claymore,” someone shouts in my ear. “It’s the drunks’ band.” It is, of course, completely unfair. Claymore is certainly a Celtic band, and the Celts have been known to enjoy a wee drop of medicinal liquor with a tune on a warm evening – but these musicians could get a temperance meeting up and partying.

The whole village of Port Fairy is reverberating to the pulse and wail of pipes and drums and guitars and mandolins and voices amplified to the heavens. It will be like this for three days and nights. "
